Traffic Plan to reduce jam during Ramadan and back to school season

Traffic patrols will be intensified at roundabouts witness traffic jams during Ramadan.

Traffic Department coordinates with Lekhoya (ISF) to decrease traffic congestion.
It is a normal seen in Doha to witness its roads high traffic jams on the occasion of starting of Holy month of Ramadan and back to school season after summer vocation. So, The Traffic and Patrols Department is preparing to tackle this traffic congestion by taking many preventive procedures to reduce traffic jams and to flow the traffic movement very easily.

Stating a about the significant preparations taken by the Traffic and Patrols Department in this season to face this problem, Lt. Col. Abdul Azeez Bin Faisal Al Thani, Assistant Director of Traffic for patrols affairs said " Every year during this season, The Traffic and Patrols Department prepares to face the traffic jam by its plan which drafted to simplify the traffic movement and also to counter the congestion resulted from the single official timing of ministries and other organizations. This single duty time need to make arrangements specially during the Holy month of Ramadan to control traffic movement in the morning and evening. The department has coordinated with Lakhoya (ISF) represented by parades and patrols security section to take part and cooperate in this venture. The traffic along with lakhoya will cover all areas of Doha by motor cycle patrols especially the districts where the traffic jams are witnessed highly like Souq areas especially in the evening time".

Lt. Col. Abdul Azeez Bin Faisal Al Thani urged all drivers and employees to start from their accommodations early and within enough time before beginning of official duty time to avoid rushing to the work place which create traffic jams.

Assistant Director of Traffic for patrols affairs also stressed on the importance of safe driving and avoiding speeding in the time of returning to the houses before Iftar time, wishing safety for all.

Talking about the most seen negative phenomenon on the roads during this season Lt. Col. Sheikh Abdul Azeez Al Thani said " Not going to the duty place early, Rushing to the houses when returning from the work and overtaking from right side are seen as negative phenomenon of this season. We are attempting to reduce this as it is an uncivilized character which exploits the rights of others".

Talking about the motor cycles which are seen commonly on the roads of the country during the vocation and Ramadan seasons Col. Sheikh Abdul Azeez Al Thani urged the parents to cooperate with traffic department to fight against the phenomenon of riding motor cycles on main roads which creates dangers for riders themselves especially for children as they are the main category of its users because they are ignorant about the safe driving laws.

This will expose their lives and lives of others to danger. He also added that the traffic department has organized a campaign against this phenomenon during the summer vocation and the campaign will be continuing during the Ramadan also. Concluding the statement Lt. Col. Wished a happy Ramadan and all the good for all nationals and residents in the country.
